# The ‘Cloud’

TThe ‘Cloud’

This is a fairly new concept in the realms of IT and we feel it’s virus protection, particularly, is one of the best things which have happened in a long while. What would happen if a virus struck your IT system and corrupted all the data in your memory? Where this has happened, even to large companies with impressive back-up systems, it has had catastrophic results, sometimes even resulting in collapse of the business.

The ‘Cloud’ has an automatic and remote back-up system which is maintained secure from such corruption and from outside hacking. It has many other benefits, including the ability for you to securely access your own system wherever you may be in the world or whatever device you are using (e.g.: PC, mobile phone, etc.). We have teamed up with a specialist in this technology in order to assist our clients. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more, but first, have a look at:

"What is Cloud Backup?"Answer ~ Peace of mind for you and your business

Cloud Backup represents a very real solution for many firms. Essentially your data is encrypted and backed up to a secure server over the Internet.

As with tape backups, which you might be using currently, you can specify the extent of the data you need to protect.

But unlike tape backups, once a snapshot of your data is safely stored in the data centre, only new files and daily changes are transmitted during each subsequent backup Session.

Best of all it can be automated, so it will remember to take a secure copy, even when you don't. Set it and forget it. Your files will be kept safe in dedicated secure facilities until you need to get them back.

You can restore anything, from specific files that you need to restore because of a local corruption, to complete systems  in the event of a total server crash, fire, flood or theft..

As for recovery, it should be quick, painless and assured.

"Why do I need to backup my Data?"

There are several important reasons why an organisation should ensure that they backup the information stored on their computer systems:-

Protect against catastrophic loss ~ The single most important benefit of data storage is the ability to recover your firm's critical information in the event of fire, theft, flood or other unforeseen disaster. A robust and practical data storage solution will allow you to get your business up and running again quickly.

Protect against system failure ~ Proper data storage will protect and secure your business critical data against man made events, such as power outages, hacker attacks, system crashes and virus infections.

Reduce costs ~ The costs of your data being lost or compromised would be significant. Simple, effective backup and storage solutions will minimise the risk to your business.

Improve efficiency ~ Making sure appropriate data is available in a secure, configurable and deliverable way will automate processes, smooth workflow, and support remote working.

Maximise the value of your data ~ Keeping your data in the appropriate type of storage can help you extract maximum value from it. For example, storing data in relational databases removes the need for replication, keeps data consistent (as it is all in one central repository) and reduces the storage space required.

Translation Service

When some of our clients, for whom English is not the first language, have had to prepare web sites, brochures, circulars, etc., often the impact has been reduced and impressions of the company been unfairly negative due to the translation into English not being up to standard. Thus, we have for long offered a service to assist in these circumstances, combining our experience in the Automotive Sector with our command of the English language ~ we enhance the English version of your text copy by editing (proof reading) grammar and phraseology as required. The CIP Programme

We are genuinely quite surprised that more companies have not taken us up on our special offer for the Continuous Improvement Process which we are continuing:-

Rolf ~ We will appraise your after-sales operation, together with a small team of your own personnel, to assess where improvements in policy, procedure or minor infrastructure could be made to increase efficiencies, reduce waste, increase customer satisfaction and, as a result, increase profits ~ absolutely vital in today’s relatively difficult economic climate.

~ If we, together with your own team, fail to prove that savings made, as a result of the recommendations suggested, would not considerably outweigh the cost of the exercise within the first few months (and, obviously, continue to be made thereafter), then we would reimburse our consultancy fee.

This Process has been successfully completed by us at hundreds of locations in Africa, Australasia, Middle East and UK/Europe. It has also been completed in a very large number of dealerships in the Americas. In all cases our clients have been genuinely satisfied and quite surprised at the levels of improvement which have been proved and verified by our clients’ own teams of personnel.

Management Locum Service

With the current economic and security situation prevailing in many markets it is getting more difficult to attract experienced senior managers to fill key management positions. Consequently, WHEN a senior manager leaves a company at short notice, it is taking an increasing amount of time to locate a suitable replacement. For subordinates or other managers to stand in for a short while may not be appropriate.

We therefore remind our clients that CIP offers a locum service which not only avoids the temptation to hire the first available applicant, regardless of suitability, but also provides an outsider’s view of the business which will assist both existing senior management and the new incumbent to more rapidly complete a review of the operation of the relevant department.
