What is SFEDI?? SFEDI is the UK Government recognised UK Standards Setting Body for Business Support and Business Enterprise. Run by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, SFEDI researches leading practice, sets standards, principles and guidelines. (Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative)

Founded in 1996 the main role is to develop national occupational standards which act as:

  1. A set of tools to help anyone thinking about starting their own business, starting their business enterprise or growing their business enterprise
  2. A set of tools for anyone who is offering business advice and support to small business enterprises
  3. A framework for the development of awards and qualifications in business support and enterprise
  4. A benchmark of best practice in the world of small business support and enterprise development

Although CIP partners have extensive experience (over 40 years each) and CIP has been operating for 16 years and has gained an impressive reputation around the world during that period, we thought it would increase client confidence if we were to gain some officially recognised accreditation so that potential clients could be sure that we met strictly controlled criteria. Thus we decided to undertake the requisite training and assessment to achieve accreditation. This resulted in being awarded the certificate earlier this month (see pictures).

Recession ~ Guarantee

Whilst the economic climate remains so uncertain we are continuing to offer our money-back guarantee on the Continuous Improvement Process ~ if we don’t prove we can save you more than our fee we will refund the fee ~ see further details on ~ you can’t lose!!!!!!!

New Products

During our travels around the world CIP personnel often come across products and services that impress us and which we feel may be of interest of many of our friends. Some recent additions to the list are detailed below. Please let us know if you require further details on any of these:

Diamondbrite ~ Wouldn’t it be great if you could capture the moment you pick up your new car from the dealership. The paintwork silky smooth to touch, and sparkling under the showroom lights, the interior fresh and all the fabric surfaces spotlessly clean. Now imagine that feeling every time you open the garage door, and imagine being able to keep your car that way with less effort than you’re used to? Diamondbrite is a complete car protection system, designed to help keep your vehicle in showroom condition inside and out - for life. We are looking for dealers interested in representing Diamondbrite in most countries in the Middle East and Africa ~ for further details visit

PRI-D ~ This is a diesel fuel additive ~ No! Don’t say “Oh, no not another one!!” This is a tried, tested and proven product which has hitherto been mainly marketed to the marine industry. You will realise that with large ships it is often even more important to extend maintenance intervals, lengthen engine life and improve fuel consumption than with road transport. The product is now just starting to be marketed into the automotive and generator set sectors. It has proved its viability in the marine world for over 20 years and has received many certificates, commendations and awards to confirm its genuine benefits (see examples on the right & below).

Do YOU have an operation (or customers) would like to improve fuel consumption, prolong engine life and extend service intervals? Surely these are goals of every high mileage engine operator. If this might be of interest to you, please contact us now for further details.

Testing by Man B&W under Marpol Annex VI protocols confirms PRI-RS capability to significantly reduce particulate (PM), total unburned hydrocarbon (THC) and carbon monoxide emissions (CO), the latter indicative of improved fuel combustion.

February 6, 2006

To Whom It May Concern:

PRI-D is a fuel stability chemistry that does not alter ASTM D975 specifications for diesel fuel.

PRI-D contains no metals, is ashless when burned, and has been EPA approved in meeting federal Clean Air Act mandates under the “substantially similar” standard for additization of bulk fuel.

Hence, PRI-D application to fuel does not adversely effect engine operation, regardless of engine make.

PRI & Engine Manufacturers

PRI fuel treatments for diesel and gasoline are proven fuel stability chemistries that have been widely tested for fuel stability improvement and elastomer compatibility. Generally, engine manufacturers do not test fuel treatment products and do not specifically recommend specific products. However, PRI fuel treatments have been tested on test stand engines by engine manufacturers like GENERAC® and Ford Marine (Redline) and found to be safe and effective.

Additionally, Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar and Cummins recommend the usage of stability chemistry to overcome problems associated with degraded fuels. For this reason, certain authorized dealers of Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar and Cummins stock PRI-D fuel treatments for application of stored fuels. The following are statements by engine manufacturers regarding either the testing of PRI, and recommendations regarding the use of stability fuel treatments:

GENERAC®: “Generac Power Systems, Inc. has reviewed PRI-D diesel fuel treatment and PRI-G gasoline treatment, and supports the benefits and improved performance claims your literature points out. The fuel stabilization to extend storage life is impressive. It is apparent that carbon deposits can be significantly reduced to the point of being a non-factor. Power Research Inc. certainly can be a major factor in the engine and generator industries.” – Steve Hespe, Vice President – Service Operations.

Ford Marine: “We highly recommend the use of Power Research Inc. fuel treatment products to our customers. PRI treatments are unsurpassed in preserving fuel quality in storage, while preventing hard carbon deposits on critical engine components.” – Chris Stout, Technical Support, Ford Marine Power Products.

Detroit Diesel: Detroit Diesel is one of the few engine manufacturers that has established a specification for diesel fuel stability. While Detroit Diesel states it “will not test or verify the performance of any supplemental fuel additives, it suggests that that “some additives may be beneficial in addressing temporary fuel quality problems.” Detroit Diesel also has established guidelines for additive compliance with Detroit Diesel specifications. PRI has met these standards as detailed in the Detroit Diesel publication, “Lubricating Oil, Fuel and Filters”.

Cummins: Cummins has a standard policy to not recommend fuel additives with some exceptions. They state, “Among the situations in which additives could prove useful are the following: an anti-oxidant or storage stability additive can help with fuel system deposits and poor storage stability.”

Caterpillar: Caterpillar maintains a firm policy to not test or recommend additives. However, in the Caterpillar publication, “Diesel Fuels and Your Engine,” the company states, “The gums and resins that occur in diesel fuel are the result of dissolved oxidation products that do no evaporate easily or burn cleanly.. During fuel storage the fuel will oxidize and form more gums and resins. To minimize the occurrence of fuel separation, use good quality fuel with the correct additives from a reputable supplier.”

Volvo: The company states, “It is not Volvo Penta’s policy to endorse or recommend any after-market fuel or lubrication additives.” But it additionally states, “The use of your company’s product will not preemptively affect, void or alter the Volvo Penta of the America’s Inc. Limited Warranty.”

Automechanika, Dubai, 2010

We did not exhibit this year as it was so close in timing to the CV Show but we did visit and had a number of positive meetings with old friends and new contacts. The show itself seemed to have even more stands than before and continues to be very popular within the region.

CV Mid East Show

We were at the CV Show in Dubai in March ~ the first of its kind and the only CV show in the Middle East. For a first event we were impressed by the level of interest and made some very good contacts. We delivered two sessions at the seminar, one for half an hour and a more detailed one for over 2 hours ~ we were very pleased that both were well attended and the attendees were most appreciative at each session.

We are currently planning to be at next year’s event ~ 14-16 March 2011 ~ and we hope to see you there.

We are currently just starting to work with a Turkish supplier of automotive (and other) sector components to help them expand into additional export markets ~ watch our web site for more details as they emerge.
